WA AGILITY - DOG OF THE YEAR AWARDS - 2019
On Saturday evening the 18th January 2020, the WA Agility Awards Night for 2019 was conducted at the Harvest Lakes Community Center in Atwell. The move to Atwell was to make the location more accessible to those in the Northern Suburbs with it's close proximity to the freeway.
The evening saw just almost 50 agility people come together to enjoy an fun evening that included a catered meal of Spanish tapas, paella and everyone's favourite, churros with chocolate sauce. Raffle tickets were handed out on arrival to be drawn later in the night so everyone could enjoy some free door prizes as well as a $2 a ticket raffle to win a winged jump kindly made and donated by the wonderful Steven Thompson. The lucky winner was Susan Briggs. This year saw a multitude of table games including building Play-do animals, bingo and Jenga. The competitive spirit was still well and truly alive with tables doing their best to take out the chocolate prizes.
Over the 2019 WA trialling year 47 trials were run (some trials were cancelled in the last couple of months due to the Dogs West grounds work making the oval unusable). This meant the amount of qualifications were slightly down on last year with 1607 cards awarded (not including games trials). Everyone enjoyed celebrating some of our most talented dog and handler combinations who took home the top prizes.
Thanks again to our wonderful sponsors and people who provided donations which included agility clubs, organisations and individuals. These people kindly donated money and prizes, including Skinny Dog Pet Treats who provided all winners with some of their fantastic products. This event could not be held without the people who get involved and donate.
