WA AGILITY - DOG OF THE YEAR AWARDS - 2018
On Saturday evening the 19th January 2019, the WA Agility Awards Night for 2018 was conducted at the Huntingdale Community Hall. For the 2018 awards the Agility Working Party decided to move the event from December to January. This allowed more time to collate results from the years trials and also meant less competition with all the December commitments that people have leading up to Christmas. The Huntingdale Community Hall was a wonderful location with much needed air conditioning and a lovely outlook onto parklands.
The evening saw just over 40 agility people come together to enjoy an fun evening that included a catered meal, raffles, games and the awards presentation. The usual competitive spirit was well and truly alive with this years table challenge accepted and met with gusto and differing interpretations of the rules! The winning team happily sharing their chocolate win with everyone.
Over the 2018 WA trialling year 44 agility trials and 47 jumping trials were run with an impressive 1721 qualifications cards awarded (not including games trials). Interesting to see that even though there were less trials than in 2017 there were more Q cards awarded in 2018. A good sign that the skills of WA agility competitors are constantly improving continuing to make the sport safe and fun for our dogs. The night saw some of our most talented dog and handler combinations take home the top prizes.
Thanks again to our wonderful sponsors and people who provided donations which included Perth agility clubs, organisations and individuals who so kindly donated money and prizes. This event could not be held without you.
